Forum News: Doctor Who and some turkey

I'm really talking about this guy again. AGAIN!!?!

Do you know what I’m doing right now? I am working on a holiday for you, Sega-addicts. That is, if you consider listening to podcasts while writing about our forum working, and if you think that the Sunday before a holiday that only applies to me because I’m Canadian is a holiday. Since neither of those things are accurate, forget I said any of it and join the forums! I say this every week – you should know why it’s a good idea! You have no excuse to not be in there right now, except maybe because you’re reading this instead. They invented tabbed browsing for a reason, so hit the more button, hit some links and have a good time.

I mixed up the formula quite a bit in the intro, so I’ll leave the rest of this generally in tact, so lets start with the challenges:

  1. Make the Bar thread 25 pages long.
  2. Provide more feedback to Brett’s TVTropes idea.
  3. Make 10 new threads total.
  4. Make one of those threads a thread in the Music/Movies/Books/Comics/Stuff section.
  5. Make the Episode 30 thread the most popular podcast thread since Episode 22.

We didn’t do too badly: we got 3.5 out of 4! You might be saying: “wait, I clearly see 5 challenges. Learn to math, idiot.” Well that’s because challenge 5 is incredibly hard to judge, especially given the length of time some podcast threads have existed, and given how the date of podcasts being released has changed. Blah, blah, blah, it doesn’t count. The .5 comes because instead of 10 new threads we had 5. Either way, good for us!

Zip your lips like a padlock and meet me in the back.

The Bar this week was a lot of fun, for people who like Doctor Who anyway. Trying to stop a discussion on Doctor Who in our forum is like trying to stop a train with the force, from across the world, while sleeping – it’s not easy, and typically it has something to do with sexy Tails cosplayers. Oddly enough, that’s what derailed the discussion in our bar. And right now we’re trying to put the pieces of our lives back together. So hit it up, ruin your life, and see if you can un-disturb yourself faster than us! Also, you can post a picture of something to explain how you’re feeling! Seems like a pretty symbiotic relationship these treads have right now.

Speaking of Doctor Who, you can now spend all day talking about it in the Music/Movies/Books/Comics/Stuff section because I made a thread for it. You’re welcome. Other than that thread this section was pretty quiet this week. Probably because Doctor Who was sucking all the energy from everything else.

In the podcast section we had the obligatory Episode 30 podcast. This one’s special because you guys as listeners shaped this podcast. Listener question ‘casts are the best. I don’t know about you guys, but I’m really excited for Episode 40. Elsewhere we had discussion about Brett’s TVTropes idea. It’s looking more and more likely that it will become a thing, so get in there and help us with it.

Yeah, I'm stealing images from my own site.

Since this is a video game website, lets talk about video games! Or rather, lets talk about other people talking about video games. In the Sega Games section I guess everyone was inspired by Baroque music because it was all about the classics this week (HA! you see what I did there?). Actually it was all about Sonic this week. More excitement about Sonic 4 was had in the appropriate thread. Mr. Zoom enhanced this thread by actually knowing the release date of the game, unlike myself. There was also some talk about the Sonic 2 fan remix. In Non-Sega Gaming we mourned the loss of a Wii, and learned more about Retro City Rampage because of Stevie Grant’s exclusive interview. The latter is basically a RCR discussion thread, so you don’t even have to read the interview to take part. I don’t see why you wouldn’t read it though, so just go do that.

With that we have this week’s challenges. This week I’ll make sure all 5 of them don’t suck:

  1. Keep Doctor Who in the Doctor Who thread.
  2. Someone show us how you feel in the thread for it.
  3. Talk about something in the Podcast section that isn’t the podcast.
  4. Talk about something in the Sega Games section that isn’t Sonic.
  5. Bananas and Pepsi Max – give me a reason to talk about it.

These challenges are all things that happen without me having to prompt us to do them, so I feel like we can totally do them all. Though I always feel like we can do them all. Lets do this, friends. See you in the forums!

But wait, there's more!

Also, to any fellow Canucks reading this, Happy Thanksgiving!

  1. SAVE THE CHEERLEADER, SAVE TIME AND SPACE.

  2. Happy real people* Thanksgiving.

*Note: I consider only Canadians to be real people. Everyone else may not actually exist, as I have never been to see them. I used to only consider Newfoundlanders real, but then I went to Nova Scotia, PEI, New Brunswick, Toronto, and Ottawa and so far their stories check out. Also, I’ve been to St. Pierre and Miquelon, so I guess there are probably actually people from France, but they all seem to live off the coast of Newfoundland.
