Dreamcast collection gets a release date

Finally, Sega have officially announced the rumoured Dream, cast collection for the Xbox 360 and PC. It’s bound to hit American store shelves on the 22nd of next month, with the Europe release following on the 25th. The collection itself will feature all the Dreamcast games that have been released on XBLA including Sonic Adventure, Sega Bass fishing, Space Channel 5 Part 2 and Crazy Taxi.

A PC version is also coming out on the same date through digital services. Personally I’m quite disappointed. It would have been nice to have some rare Dreamcast games on this disc. But who knows? Sega could release another collection with more rare games that haven’t been released 5 times before. I guess we can all hold out for that.

  1. Looks like I won’t be picking this up. I’m with the lot who expected much more with this. It’s not even going to be on the PS3 which is another minus.

  2. Such a wasted opportunity here.

  3. Ah yes, one of the classic games the Dreamcast will be remembered for: Sega Bass Fishing. Disappointed but not surprised in the least. I don’t really care, though; Dreamcasts are cheap as dirt and so is the bulk of its library, and it still looks damn good in VGA.

  4. Kinda disappointed with the selection of games on the disc. But if it’s under $30 I might still get it just on the chance that they’ll make more if this one sells.

  5. And considering Big’s game in Sonic Adventure is pretty much a demo of Sega Bass Fishing, there’s quite the variety here, haha.

I’m still picking it up, because it feels good to support the Dreamcast indirectly. Here’s hoping they throw some wild cards on the next collection.
