Classic Sonic’s lips are sealed

It looks as though Classic Sonic will be taking a page from Nintendo’s Link by remaining silent.  Sega of America’s Assistant Community Manager, Aaron Webber, verified that Classic Sonic will not have a voice in the upcoming Sonic Generations.  He noted that this choice was made to appeal to retro fans.

It’s a big deal for some because Classic Sonic never really spoke in the old games. Save for Jaleel White, who voiced our blue hero in the old Sonic Cartoons, it’s generally taboo to have Classic Sonic speaking.”

Are you excited that Classic Sonic will remain silent, or were you hoping Jaleel White would come out of hiding to voice him?

  1. So glad only half of this game will feature him speaking.

  2. After some recent games, I was against Sega completely listening to fans, but this completely changes that. I’m so thankful they understand the importance of this.

  3. Well, I’m kinda glad that SEGA decided to keep Sonic a mute cause then we don’t have to deal with a bunch of angry fans bitching about SEGA using the wrong voice actor to voice Classic Sonic and that SEGA ruined Classic Sonic by giving him a voice. I’m growing rather tired of the voice wars in this fanbase already.

I guess Modern Sonic is the one who has to do all the talking in this game which I don’t mind cause Roger Craig Smith is awesome.

  4. I’m glad he’s not talking, I think Sonic should have stayed quiet
