Unreleased Sonic skateboarding game videos surface

Since Sonic’s face has been slapped on nearly everything you can imagine, it wouldn’t surprise some of you that there were some failed concepts for other non-platforming Sonic games knocking about once. However one cancelled spin off actually did make it to game development, that being the unreleased skateboarding game Sonic Extreme. The game seems to be a full version, of the tiny part of, the City Escape level in Sonic Adventure 2.

A youtuber by the name of ‘ProtonX3’ has found this game on an original development and has more videos of the unreleased game. Hit the jump to see the other videos that have emerged.

As you can see here the game would also feature a combat mode too. No news or confirmation from anyone here but I’ll keep you up to date when more information of this mystery game is brought to light.

  1. I’m not buying that this is legit.

It’s just not Sega-like to make something like this.

They recycled artwork, music, and sound effects for the whole video. The physics are almost exactly like Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 as well.

And let’s be honest: One thing Sega has always done right, especially in Sonic games, is their menus. None of this “stiff backgrounds with text” crap. There have always been animations of some sort.

My guess is this is a heavily modified THPS game made by a fan.

I unno. It could have been a placeholder for the real artwork very early on.

  3. The abject silence and heavy breathing in this video make me so uncomfortable.

Not only is this the same engine, but the boost pads are EXACTLY the same as well.

I’m pretty sure my argument is pretty valid here. There’s no way this is real.

  5. I’d prefer to see a new sonic r where there actualy running with all sonic charicters and not with other sega charicters
