Nintendo announces “Sonic-blue” Wii bundle

True blue Wii

Well, by Sonic-blue, I mean “Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games-blue.”  The bundle includes the blue Wii console, matching blue wiimote and nunchuk, a sticker sheet, and a copy of Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games.

This version of the console is also a new edition, which does away with the GameCube games and accessory backwards compatibility.  As of now, it will only be releasing in Europe on November 18, 2011.

UPDATE: This type of system also does not have built-in wi-fi.  As if that was a deciding factor when purchasing a Wii. Zing!

  1. So it’s a less capable Wii that’s painted baby blue…no thanks.

  2. Yeah, the built-in Wi-Fi has been dropped too.

Does this mean I can’t use my Gamecube controller to play the one game with Sonic and Mario that I do want to play? For shame, Nintendo.

  3. Ah yes, I forgot they did away with the wi-fi as well. Which basically makes it a GameCube 2 now. Or a Wii 0.5.
