Sonic the Hedgehog mobile update is looking pretty slick

Gameplay footage has been released of the remastered version of the original Sonic the Hedgehog for iOS and Android. This version clearly shows some improvements over previous mobile versions and over the original game.

This version of Sonic the Hedgehog runs extremely smoothly and doesn’t suffer from any of the slowdown issues the plagued the original game and the touch screen buttons are much smaller. Extra graphical enhancements include additional animation for Dr. Robotnik’s wrecking ball as well as the independently moving clouds present in the original Japanese version of Sonic the Hedgehog.

It’s great to see that Sega are putting real effort into this update. Perhaps it’s a test run for future updates for other classic Sonic games? We’ll let you know as soon as we find out!

P.S. Sonic is really creepy without the music, don’t you think?
