When Yakuza 1&2 HD was announced for the Nintendo Wii U, it was pretty much given that there would be added features. Some of these features were detailed in a Famitsu.com interview with Yakuza 1&2 HD producer Mitsuhiro Shimano.

In addition to the graphical revamp, the game will utilize the Wii U gamepad. The player will be able to switch gameplay from the television to the Wii U gamepad. Moreover, the gamepad screen will act as an interactive map. The player will be able to place a green marker on the screen reminding them of where to go the next time they play.

The difficulty has been adjusted in several ways to make the game a bit easier. Examples include making the batting centers easier to get through. The signboards will stand out more allowing the player to find locations easier. Moreover, a “Easy + Heat Up” mode will be available from the start making battles and action sequences easier for gamers.

Finally, Mitsuhiro Shimano left this message for game players:

Of course, the Wii U Pro Controller will be supported, so you’ll be able to play whichever way you want. For you fathers out there who purchased a Wii U for your kids, please give Yakuza 1 & 2 HD a try. Again, Yakuza 3 and 4 have recently dropped in price, so it’d be a great opportunity to try it out. For those who’ve never played Yakuza, it would be my pleasure if you could use this occasion to be introduced to the Yakuza series.
