Steel Empire coming to the Japanese 3DS eShop later this month

A very good Sega Genesis shmup Steel Empire will be reborn on the Japanese 3DS eShop in the near future.

Back in 1994 members of the original development team, HOT-B, formed a new company Starfish. While the 3DS remake is being handled by Mebuis, Starwish will be publishing it in Japan. Steel Empire is expected to release later this month as a 2,940 yen eShop download.

On top of that, Yoshinori Satake, the former lead game designer at HOT-B, has plans for a modern, “gritty” sequel called Burning Steel. Even if Steel Empire 3DS remake is not leaving Japan anytime soon, I hope we’ll at least get a chance to play the sequel.
