Sonic Boom to be two different games. Enemies Revealed.

SonicBoom

Just two days after the reveal of Sticks the Jungle Badger, Sonic’s latest companion, Sega divulged yet more information on the Sonic Boom franchise via a blog post. Rather than watering-down the Wii U title into a 3DS game, Sega have decided to release two discrete games focused, one hopes, on the strengths of the different hardware. The Wii U receives Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric, which introduces Sonic’s titular foe, a metal-clad ophidian hell bent on world domination with an army of robots (sound familiar?). Nintendo’s 3DS is home to Sonic Boom: Shattered Crystal, which places an emphasis on platforming and puzzles in contrast to the Wii U’s hand in adventure and exploration. Whilst all this information provides flesh to the bones of Sonic Boom, the major worry remains Sega’s patchy record with recent Sonic titles. There’s been the highs of Generations and Colours counterbalanced by the mixed (at best) receptions to Lost World and Sonic 4. It remains to be seen which Sonic will turn up in November. Expect more news from E3.
