Next month’s Famitsu to have Sakura Wars announcement

At a recent Sakura Wars event in Japan, series creator Ohji Hiroi announced that the next issue of Famitsu would reveal “something interesting” about the series. It might be too optimistic to think this may be the announcement of a Sakura Wars 6, especially after the big Bayonetta announcement.

Unfortunately, whether its a new Sakura Wars game or not there’s a very slim chance we’d ever see it in the West. Sakura Wars: So Long, My Love didn’t seem to take the Western world by storm and attempts to bring the first and second game to the PSP were denied.

  1. Slight correction: I believe the NISA president said that it was another publisher that tried to get the PSP Sakura Wars games localized, but were rejected, not NISA themselves:

It’s too bad. I really, really, REALLY wish Sega would take it upon themselves to handle the Sakura Wars games being localized in the west, but it took a much smaller company to bring it over and they nearly capped themselves on the foot for it. Sigh…

I hate Sony’s polices on this, too.

  2. I wish that PSP localization would come here. The PSP seems like the perfect platform for that kind of stuff with the Ys remakes and Persona 3 Portable. Portable is the only way I can play RPGs anymore.
