At GDC this week, Sega has announced that they are bringing a version of the original Sonic the Hedgehog to Android devices. While this may not seem like a big deal considering an emulation of Sonic the Hedgehog is already available on the iOS App Store, this Android version is a true port with alterations made to the game to make it more playable on a touchscreen device. Beyond having touchscreen controls and a different aspect ratio to fit an Android device’s display, there hasn’t been any other hints at what might make this game different.
Anyone interested in yet another Sonic the Hedgehog port? While it’s nice to see them taking a little more time with this one, I can’t say I have much interest in playing it over my Genesis original.
