Bayonetta: Bloody Fate feature length anime announced

Production studio GONZO, famous for anime Afro Samurai, announced through the decidedly-NSFW trailer above that they will be releasing Bayonetta: Bloody Fate as a feature length anime film this November. An anime adaptation has been as long-rumored as the sequel was, with talk of it first starting around Tokyo Game Show 2011. Not much has been revealed in English on the plot, although the movie has an official Japanese website with more news on it.

I’m cautiously optimistic about this one. I’m really happy to finally see this happen, but I’m not so sure about the choice of studio for it. GONZO has done great things in the past, but their work on gaming related things has left much to be desired, as seen in these infamous caps from BlazBlue: Continuum Shift. Hopefully Bayonetta gets GONZO’s A-game instead, and they can do the series justice.

Anyone looking forward to this? Are you hoping for a retelling of the first game’s story? Or something completely original? Let us know in the comments, or on the forums.
