Sega announced last week that a limited number of redundancies would be made in its London office. A statement was released, detailing the decision: “Sega is in the process of consolidating certain functions of the Sonic and Mobile departments within Sega of America, where the management and production for those areas of the business reside”. This follows on from small-scale layoffs in Sega of America last year and further behind the scenes restructuring that sees Koch Media set to distribute Sega titles in Nordic territories. Sega was at pains to stress that the redundancies will not affect the much anticipated future Sonic title, telling Eurogamer: “This will not affect Sonic Boom development”. Everyone at Sega Addicts hopes that those affected find new employment speedily.
