Creative Assembly’s most recent Total War: Rome II Youtube video is two-fold in design. First, it previews the introductory campaign, “Lend Me Your Ears” and provides information about the campaign’s plot and protagonist, Silanus. Second, the video details the sound design of Total War: Rome II.

Actor Mark Strong, who voiced Titus in Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine and portrayed Sinestro in the Green Lantern feature film, is cast as Silanus. Each dialogue sample provided is delivered with power, confidence, and a certain amount of pathos that makes the Roman empire come alive.

Creative Assembly also provides fantastic samples of the game music and sound effects. Moreover, the process of creating the sound effects is shared. Creative assembly has gone so far as to create metal armor to replicate the sound of combat. I must say I find the sound effects quite convincing.

This is just the latest video in a series that Creative Assembly has released. I personally find this marketing technique refreshing. It is in stark contrast to the silence we have on the western release of Phantasy Star Online 2. I am certainly looking more and more forward to Total War: Rome II’s release date on September 3rd.

What do you think of the sound design and voice acting? Are these videos raising your interest in Total War: Rome II?
