According to Destructoid, a new game is in development for Sonic’s 20th anniversary next year called, fittingly, Sonic Anniversary. It, similar to an idea mentioned in Episode 29 of the podcast, is supposed to be a re-imagining of classic Sonic zones in a manner similar to the Sonic Unleashed/Sonic Colors style of gameplay.
What do you think? Sound like a good idea? Did we totally nail this? And what zones would you like to see included?
So just 3D zones? Those actually wouldn’t be too bad. That sounds pretty good compared to some of the bland stuff from previous 3D sonics.
From what I gathered, it was supposed to be 2D/3D mix like the Colors levels, actually.
I think that would be awesome, either in 3D or 2D/3D mix. It’d be so cool to see all those old zones in shnazzy new graphics! Some of those old levels were the best Sonic levels EVAH.
I vote for of course Emerald Hill, and also Chemical Plant, Stardust, Marble Garden, maybe Sandopolis.
Just do the whole series, haha.
YES. THANK YOU FOR VOTING CHEMICAL PLANT. Now replace Sandopolis with Flying Battery and/or Hydrocity and we’re in complete agreement.
I’ve always been a fan of the nature levels, so I’d hope they’d all make the cut. Great idea, and good call by you guys last episode if it indeed does come to fruition. I think with all the shit Sonic’s taken since SEGA went third party, this, along with Sonic 4, is the best way of revitalizing a waning IP. Pretending Sonic 2006 doesn’t exist is also a good idea, and they’re surprisingly even doing that, too.
I prefer 4D sonic, please! I’m not a fan of the 3D sonic games.
Wow. I can’t wait to sue Sega so that we can get our royalty check for thinking of the idea first.
Yeah, next time Aaron is on the show, you guys should totally demand some residuals or something.
