Yep, in a move that blew my socks into an unrecognizable mass far from their former selves, it has come to the attention of mech-aficionado’s Mecha Damashii that the Xbox 360 release of Virtual-On Force is actually region free.
Virtual-On Force is the 4-player, 2-on-2 arcade fighter of the series, which was somewhat localised as the bizarre and easily forgettable Virtual-On Marz. This new 360 conversion includes all the features of the arcade version, as well as a new 2-on-2 Leader Battle (No idea), a co-op boss fight mode, online play and a mission mode for those of you who like that sort of thing (EDIT: Apologies, the mission mode is not 91 stages long. That instead is the number of different mechs to pilot, although many are simply costume/colour changes). A pretty decent offering of extras, all things considered.
I’d love to get my hands on it, but I’m not sure how well I’d take to the slower combat of this against the faster antics of Oratorio Tangram, and it’s a fairly significant investment to make without even considering the customs tax. Any Sega Addicts considering taking advantage of this?
