Here at Sega Addicts, you would probably assume we are big fans of Yuji Naka, the original programmer for Sonic the Hedgehog. And you would indeed assume right. The above is sure then to get you hyped as well. The game itself is called Rodea: The Sky Soldier and features some Sonic and NiGHTS like elements.
This game just looks fun, and even though we know little about it, I can’t wait to find out more. A new Yuji Naka game is always something to be excited about anyway.

Rodea is looking very good.
Just hope you have the option to play it 100% with a traditional controller…
Let this be somewhat of a return of Yuji Naka (not that he ever went away, you know what I mean) to the ‘main’ consoles of today, to ‘full scale’ games.
The ‘old schoolers’ of Sega seem to be returning to the biz, while undertaking somewhat of a revival and adapting themselves to the present technology and the present market.
First Yu Suzuki with ys net and Shenmue City now this…
There’s no school like the old school, I hope they get the change of showing the world just that.
God, this looks so awesome. My only problem is the Shadow of the Colossus rip…But maybe they’ll pull it off. It is Yuji Naka, after all.
Finally Naka is doing something that can be judged shoulder to shoulder with other modern games. This trailer looks very promising, the gameplay looks very NiGHTS-esque (although it doesn’t seem like you can continuously fly, like you have to keep hitting a button to shoot yourself forward, which looks kind of monotonous) and the character design and air islands looks like something from Skies of Arcadia.
I can’t wait to actually play a new IP that isn’t a first person shooter, a sandbox gangster game or a game with zombies in 2011.
I definitely can see how this would be a spiritual successor to NiGHTS.
I’m curious to see how the 3DS game will look and play. Hopefully it’s not just an rail-shooter, but then again if it’s fun I don’t care what kind of game it is since it already looks like more fun than NiGHTS JOD was on the Wii.
Graphics-wise, I could even see this being a trailer for the 3DS version considering how some of the other 3DS game trailers look already.
