Shaq returns to videogames in spiritual successor to Shaq Fu

Nearly 20 years ago, there was a game for the Genesis and Game Gear that brought comfort and joy to many children and adults across the entire world. That game was Shaq Fu and it starred everyone’s favorite actor/rapper/athlete, Shaquille O’Neal.

Well, guess what… he’s back and he’s ready to punch and kick some mutant zombie scum. ShaqDown is a new iOS and Android game developed by Hiptic Games. The game costs only $0.99 (about the same as buying a Genesis copy of Shaq Fu) and has some decent artwork by an artist who previously worked on games like Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix.

So, anyone have fond memories of Shaq Fu? Anyone checking out this new Shaq-ified game? Is it worth the $0.99 price tag?

  1. I’ve always been a Shaq fan since his playing days in Louisiana State; and I was one of the few who purchased and played Shaq Fu haha

I even bought the movie ‘Thunderstruck’ because Shaq and the TNT boys had a cameo. Long story short, I’ll probably be getting this one

  2. …same here.

But man! everything about shaq-fu was awsome and I loved the music. especially the one for that hooded green character.
It was the second fighting game I ever played, besides darkstalkers.
    Ahhh…memories.
