Backbone Entertainment should be familiar to Sega fans as they’ve done quite a bit of work together in the past few years. They may be most known for their work on Sonic’s Ultimate Genesis Collection, but they also developed the two Sonic Rivals games on PSP and the iPod port of Sonic the Hedgehog.
Well, it appears that they were interested in doing even more with Sega as a Backbone artist has revealed concept art for two games the developer pitched to our favorite publisher. One being a new Streets of Rage game, but even more surprising is a new ESWAT game. It would appear both games were turned down but it would have been interesting to see what the games would have been like. Maybe in today’s environment with Sega focusing on more digital releases, the games would have had a better chance of being green-lit.
What do you think of the idea of Backbone developing new Streets of Rage and/or ESWAT games? What would you like to see from a new game in those franchises?

They should do like a Remake of Streets of Rage, but keep it classic style, you know, to make fans of the series happy
ESWAT/WHYNOT? 🙂
