Aliens: Infestation is a thing, according to the ESRB

First it was outed by the Australian Classification Board, now the ESRB confirms it again: ‘Aliens: Infestation’, a side-scrolling DS game set in the Aliens universe and made by Waforward, exists. Sega would do the publishing once again, but they still haven’t announced it officially. A Gearbox representative actually talked about it back 2009, but we haven’t heard much about it since then. Anyway, keep an eye out for it! For the full ESRB description of the game, hit the jump!

This is a sci-fi action platformer in which players control a marine squad on a mission to eradicate alien creatures. As players run and jump through side-scrolling levels, they use rifles, pistols, flamethrowers, and explosives to kill enemy soldiers and aliens (i.e., “xenomorphs”). The frenetic battles are highlighted by realistic gunfire, explosions, and cries of pain; injured aliens emit green splashes of blood before collapsing to the ground. Some sequences also depict red blood spurts when human characters are killed (e.g., an alien bursting out of a man’s chest; characters getting bitten by aliens). During the course of the game, players can enter a locker room and see a male character whose buttocks are briefly exposed. The words “a*s,” “bastard,” and “hell” appear in the dialogue.

  1. Big year for Aliens in games…maybe a proper movie is due?

  2. Pretty much the only good reason for having a ratings board these days seems to be that it often leaks the existence of a game well before any other outlets. And for that I thank them. Still pissed off about that Night Trap stuff, though…

Sweet, Metal Slug meets Aliens. I’m all for it. Though I think Shadow Complex gameplay would be better. More exploration and whatnot.
