Just yesterday a trademark was filed for the ever-hopeful Shenmue 3. This information would send any Sega fan’s blood pressure through the roof, so you can imagine the excitement felt through out the internet. However, that excitement was soon diminished as it was determined that the trademark was a hoax similar to a trademark filed for Fallout 4 recently, and Half-Life 3 in the past.
The trademark was filed for submission to the Office for Harmonization in the Internal Market (OHIM) in Europe, whom no party was available for comment regarding the Shenmue 3 trademark.
This trademark may have come as a result of the recent announcement that Yu Suzuki will talking about Shenmue at GDC in March.
Either way, it’s a shame that this was a hoax all along. According to OHIM, it is quite simple to file for a trademark. So, stop it ya crazy kids.
