I’ve frequently stated on this site that two of my favorite racing series of all time are Ridge Racer and Daytona USA, but never in my wildest dreams did I expect this. Today, Famitsu revealed that the famous #41 Hornet machine, as well as a special song for the release called “Ridge Racer (RIDGE RACER USA MIX)”, the result of a collaboration between Namco composer Hiroshi Okubo and Sega’s Takenobu Mitsuyoshi, will be released as DLC for the PSVita Ridge Racer title.
Details on a US or EU region release have not been unveiled, but the pack is set to go on the PSN store in Japan on June 6th, the song for ¥150, and the car for ¥250. A video of the Hornet doing its thing on a desert course similar to the medium track from DUSA is on the Famitsu source link below.
It’s times like this I actually wish I had a Vita, because this is one of the coolest collaborations I’ve ever seen. Here’s hoping Namco brings this to the west.

That is pretty awesome. Zero chance of me getting this, but I can’t wait to hear the track and see at least a video of the Hornet in Ridge Racer!
Actually, if you click the Source link, you can find a video with the song AND the Hornet.
