Sega bringing multiple XBLA/PSN games to the Wii U eShop

The Wii U is inching closer and closer, and while the gaming community continues to debate its merits and potential for success, publishers are busy shoring up their release schedules for Nintendo’s first HD console.

According to a recent tweet from NotEnoughShaders.com’s Emily Rogers, Sega is particularly excited about their contribution, with several titles from their PSN and XBLA libraries coming to the Wii U’s eShop. Rogers finished with, “Sega will give an official announcement soon.”

We’ll keep our eyes peeled for any new announcements, but hopefully we’ll hear about some new games as well. Relying too much on the old is a very dangerous method, especially if Nintendo is indeed looking to prove themselves to the “hardcore” audience. We’ve already got rereleases of Arkham City and Ninja Gaiden 3 coming. That’s more than enough.

  1. It’s so strange hearing that games like Arkham City and Colonial Marines will be on the WiiU. I’ve unfortunately associated Nintendo with games of lesser graphics. It’s good to hear that they’ll be competing for the ‘hardcore’ market again though.

‘Hardcore gaming’… Am I the only one that feels dirty writing that? Quotation marks act as my force field.

    • yeah that’s why I did the same in the post. I hate using either label that the industry has created. It’s so much more diverse than the isolating black-and-white phrases of “casual” and “hardcore.” More than anything, I blame those labels for driving a wedge within the gaming community over the past couple of generations.
