Captain America: Super Soldier answers the call for a decent movie tie-in game

Spider Man 2 was such a great game for a very particular reason. It absolutely nailed the greatest part of Spider Man’s character, being able to swing across an entire city with both haste and ease. Sadly, this left a lot to be desired in terms of combat. Now we have Captain America: Super Soldier, announced in development for PS3/360/Wii/DS/PSP (and breathe), which will hopefully also focus all its energy on the most exciting part of the Captain America character. That of course being that he kicks the crap out of everyone with an indestructible shield and battles the proteges of Nazi dictators.

The game will naturally take place during World War II, as Captain America battles Red Skull and the evil organisation HYDRA, which surprisingly isn’t actually an acronym. The reasons you should care specifically about this one, are that the Wii version will be developed by High Voltage Software, creators of The Conduit, Tournament of Legends and all around pretty awesome guys AND the 360/PS3 version will be handled by Next Level Games who most famously created the Wii sequel to Punch Out!!!.

A game where you punch stereotypical comic book villains in the face by the guys and gals who made the best game about punching racial stereotypes in the face? I think there’s enough here in this Sega published summer tie-in to be more than interested in seeing how this one turns out next summer.
