In the exclusive trailer they revealed a new desert based zone with the promise of a May 15th release date for PSN, and the XBLA release following a day after.
At the tail end of that trailer however comes even more interesting news. In the spirit of the old Mega Drive lock on technology you will be able to play as Metal Sonic if you own both episodes. Metal Sonic will have his own levels and will in fact be free of charge to those who do own both games.
So just like buses you spend ages waiting for Sonic 4 Episode 2 news and you get a bunch of info at once. Oh well you can’t complain. Especially when the news is this awesome!

awesome. It was too bad that metal sonic wasn’t in sonic adventure,it was a fight I looked forward to in 3D. But playing as him sounds better,as long as he has some special moves like jet-dash.
Once of my favourite parts of Sonic Adventure 2 Battle was that you could play as Metal Sonic in two-player. Finally, he’s got some signle-player content. I mean, why did we get the Shadow the Hedgehog game before this? Seriously?
