Believe it or not, Jojo's Bizarre Adventure is back with an HD rerelease and All-Stars Battle

Despite all the doom and gloom we’ve been hearing for the past few months, vintage Sega fans really have quite a bit to smile about these days. The Jet Set Radio HD release is just around the corner, both Sonic Adventure 2 and the original NiGHTS are being revived with their own visual overhaul, and now one of the suitably weirdest and most memorable fighting games on the Dreamcast–Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure–is coming back in multiple forms.

First off, developer CyberConnect 2 and publisher Namco Bandai is bringing us a brand new PS3 game titled Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure: All-Star Battle, whose trailer you can see above. In addition to that, a brand new anime series was announced at the same event for an October release in Japan.

As if that wasn’t exciting enough, a rerelease of the original Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure was just announced at San Diego Comic Con. This version will offer updated HD graphics and online features comparable to other modern fighters. The XBLA release is August 21st for 1600 MSP, with the PSN version coming the following day for a surprisingly hefty $19.99.

You hear that? It’s the sound of thousands of pessimistic Dreamcast fans wiping egg off their face…and I include myself in that number. Never in a million years would I have expected this to happen.

Still, I’ve got to know–is anyone else as excited to see this as I am? I loved the original, and I just hope the new entry takes the game’s trademark unadulterated insanity and kicks it up even further.
