Sega finally pulled the plug on the last remaining servers in Japan for Phantasy Star Universe. Up until September 6th, Xbox 360 owners of the game were still able to play online with a few select Japanese servers. Servers for PS2 and PC were shut down in 2010, with all western servers for Xbox 360 following suit earlier this year. This is not completely surprising with the release of Phantasy Star Online 2 in Japan, but it is still impressive to see a console MMO last as long as PSU did.
Fans of PSU are remembering the fonder times on Sega’s forums, and also preparing for their ventures in Phantasy Star Online 2.
You put up a good fight, PSU! You will be missed!
