Sonic comic collection explains Sonic's green eyes

The age-old question is answered… again! Archie comics has been putting out comic collections for new fans to get caught up with the books from the early 2000’s and ’90’s. In a recent collection, including the famed issues #71-74, Sonic explains how his eyes turned green: he ran reeeeeeeallly fast. I’m not kidding. He actually circled the globe a few times. So there you have it folks. What I find hilarious is how much fanrage there was when Sonic suddenly had a new look in 1999, and Archie took it among themselves to explain it in the most simplistic fashion possible. You can move on with your lives now. This still begs the question of how Knuckles’ eyes turned purple though. I’m assuming he just ate too many grapes whilst chillin’ in Pumpkin Hill.

  1. The UK Sonic comic actually had a whole story arc surrounding the design change, including the changing eye colour.

For a short time Sonic as actually ‘possessed’ by Chaos Zero who was proper evil and totally freaky looking. Choas was eventually excised from Sonic, leaving Sonic with the ‘Sonic Adventure’ appearance.

    Awesome comic:

  2. Yeah Sonic The Comic was always a lot darker than anything Archie ever did. I read a decent amount of the STC online and enjoyed what I read.
