UDON Entertainment announces Valkyria Chronicles 3 artbook

Here’s a little treat to numb the pain for all those forlorn fans struggling with the harsh reality that we will likely never see another Valkyria Chronicles in the West: UDON Entertainment has announced Valkyria Chronicles 3: Complete Artworks, an artbook featuring the gorgeous work of illustrator Raita Honjou, with story summaries; character and design profiles; promotional art; and commentary and interviews with the creators. The book is scheduled to be released in December for $44.99, but can be pre-ordered on Amazon now for $29.69.

Would anybody be interested in picking this up? I imagine fans fall on both sides of the coin with this one–either furious that they’d dare to give us a book when we are being denied the Japan-only game, or elated and relieved to have something related to the series.

Hit the jump for a gallery of preview art from the book.

  1. It would be counter-productive if any fan criticized Udon for releasing this book. It’s not their fault Sega isn’t releasing VC 3 over here, and if anything it shows Udon believes in the financial viability of the franchise in the Western market, while Sega doesn’t. But from what I’ve seen, all the fans are really thankful to Udon for releasing this book. I guess I might buy it just to support their decision.
